Yellow Driver Survives Head On Collision Without a Scratch - No Airbag Deployment
From the RD News Desk
As a professional Road Driver, what is your biggest fear while out on the road? Perhaps a head-on collision?
At approximately 0600 hrs on January 10th, 2006, the Volvo tractor in the photograph to the right came to an abrupt stop. It was traveling south on Interstate 35 during snowy weather, below the posted speed limit in the right hand lane.
North bound was a Dodge Ram heavy duty pick-up traveling to fast for winter conditions. The driver of the Dodge hydroplaned, lost control of his vehicle, crossed the interstate median, and came directly into the path of  the on-coming 47211 triples tractor.
What resulted was a head-on collision, with the Yellow Road Driver. Reducing his speed to approximately 45mph before the Dodge Ram impacted squarely on at approximately 60mph with the Volvo.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated the driver of the Dodge Ram was transported to the Oklahoma University Hospital Trauma Center to deal with the multiple breaks in his legs, pelvis, and other multiple injuries. It is not known if he survived the accident.
The Yellow Road Driver was transported to Oklahoma City's Baptist Hospital for examination and then released to go home for a couple days of R&R in order to recover from his stress and strains.
