- On November 22, 1963, 1230 hrs,
John Fitzgerald Kennedy (D), the 35th President of the United
States was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. The people of America
mourned for the loss. Since that terrible day in Dallas, taxpayers have
asked many questions, but to no avail, no true answers have come
forward. This incident, shadowed with secrets and conspiracy,
was instrumental in creating a mistrust of our federal government. |
| The mistrust factor has grown
with every administration that has followed our 35th President.
It prevails today with our current administration. The following
is eight reasons why the majority of Americans continue to not trust their
elected officials and the federal
government... |
| 8. |
Johnson,
Lyndon 1963-69
Vietnam - An alleged attack (Aug., 1964) by North
Vietnamese gunboats against U.S. naval forces stationed
in the gulf of Tonkin, led to increased U.S. involvement
in the Vietnam War. Controversy over the war had become acute by
the end of March 1968, when Johnson limited the bombing of
North Viet Nam. More than 50,000 US soldiers died for
corporate war profiteers. |
| 7. |
Nixon,
Richard 1969-74
Watergate - a break-in at the offices of the Democratic
National Committee during the 1972 campaign. The
break-in was traced to officials of the Committee to
Re-elect the President. A number of administration
officials resigned; some were later convicted of
offenses connected with efforts to cover up the affair.
Nixon denied any personal involvement, but the courts
forced him to yield tape recordings which indicated that
he had, in fact, tried to divert the investigation. He
then resigned with shame. |
| 6. |
Ford,
Gerald 1974-77
Granted former President Nixon
a full pardon. Ford's nominee for Vice President was
former Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York. |
| 5. |
Carter,
Jimmy 1977-81
Threw away the Panama Canal by obtaining ratification of
the Canal treaties, established a national energy policy
that implemented decontrolling domestic petroleum
prices, along with the deregulation of the trucking and
airline industries. |
| 4. |
Reagan,
Ronald 1981-89
The Iran Contra Affair - http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/nsa/publications/irancontra/irancon.html |
| 3. |
Bush,
George H.W. 1989-93
"Read my lips, No new Taxes" was the promise,
however taxes were raised once he was elected into
office, accompanied by high deficit spending during his
tenure. |
| 2. |
Clinton,
William J. 1993-2001
I did not have sexual relations with that woman... As a result
of issues surrounding personal indiscretions with a
young woman (Monica Lewensky, a White House intern),
Clinton was the second U.S. president to be impeached by
the House of Representatives. |
| 1. |
Bush,
George W. 2001-present
And probably the number one reason Americans don't trust
their federal government is: President Bush has
used the deceit of weapons of mass destruction as a
pretense to go to war in Iraq. He has allowed the
largest deficit ever in the history of the United
States. At the time of this writing, he still has three
years of service remaining as the President of the
United States of America. |
